 kirbee answered your question: HST

The things that are now being taxed that weren’t are unfortunate in a lot of cases. Dance lessons, sports, food, etc

Is that it? Seriously? Thats all? (Srsly?) I mean, sure I recognize that it’s unfortunate buuuuut the tax savings are passed on to companies which should in turn neutralize any pricing raises on these items and services. We effectively will pay a little more here and there and a little less over there. From what I understand, people with lower and middle class incomes will benefit with lower income taxes AND it even eliminates the GST on things like gas and Diesel and “feminine hygiene products”. Who doesn’t want cheaper Tampons?

It’ll even be the cheapest HST in Canada, resting at a cool 12%. Where it is 13% or 15% in the other Harmonized provinces.

I mean if it worked for 4 other provinces (despite protest) and 130 other countries, why can’t it work for us?
If it makes THAT much difference in the protesters’ lives, they can move to Alberta. 5% GST, UNSTOPPPPPPABBBBLLEEE!

I dunno, maybe I’m just too open-minded about it. Mis-guided? Perhaps.

Anyone have any further or expanded ideas about it?
